For my birthday my dad got me a bottle of something I’ve never heard of. Don’t think I can finish the bottle by myself. Gonna need some help!

I mean yeah. 750ml is just two regular sized beers.

Booze puts me to sleep. I'll be snoozing 2/3 of the way through.

My sister puts those down like they’re La Croix.

It’s pretty good. If you’ve ever had Framboise, it’s essentially the same except for cherry instead of raspberry.
To me, lambics are just too sweet on their own. But mixed properly, they can be incredible. My favorite to pair with the Lindeman’s Kriek is probably the Rogue Chocolate Stout.
And don’t worry about the size of the bottle. Kriek is only about 4% ABV.

I’m more worried about the size of my bladder.

I’m sure the occasional pee break is acceptable. Just remember to hold out as long as you can before you “break the seal”

Kriek lambic (probably a sweetened variety) is literally the only beer I’ve ever tasted that I didn’t immediately find disgusting (I do my part make sure there’s plenty of beer left for everyone else, though I can’t make the same promise with wine) .

I’m late, but I love that stuff. Try the peach from the same brand. It’s almost a dessert beer.

Lambic isn’t sweet, kriek is ;)

Fuck I love lambic. And Lindemans is good too. Hard to find though, all of it.
If you want something offensive get a non sweet lambic.

Well....yeah. You’re right.
But Kriek is a form of lambic (as is Faro, which is also sweet) . Although, if we really want to nail down our pedantry, it should be mentioned that Lindeman uses oud bruid as their base form rather a true lambic style ale. Also, several other traditional lambic brewers produce primarily sweetened lambics, such as Belle Vue and Timmermans.

It seems lambics and sweetness go hand in hand. I won’t claim to know everything about them ;)
But I have been to Cantillon in Belgium and dammit. I’ll go again if I must.

Well, it’s a little more complicated than saying they go hand in hand. A traditional lambic is more dry and sour , almost wine-like. The flavor is largely imparted by the specific strains of wild yeast , along with a long fermentation period that starts in open air before being moved to casks.
Sweeter lambics (such as kriek) seem to be more common here stateside, but with kettle sour s gaining popularity thanks to craft brewers, I wouldn’t be surprised to see more traditional lambics being sold beyond specialty bottle shops.

Down in Melbourne sours are definitely becoming big, but alas, lambic remains a rarity. There have been 1 or 2 made locally, but as you say, usually it’s a matter of finding a place that stocks Belgian beers.
And, as you say, we’ve got no shortage of Lindemens down here.
